Catfish Gumbo is a great change from the usual jambalaya recipes we are all so used too! This New Orleans Gumbo is another unique and delicious meal. You see, my family loves to fish. new Orleans Style Catfish gumbo Ingredients

  • 1 and 1/4 cp butter
  • A cup thinly sliced celery
  • 1 tbsp minced garlic
  • 1/2 tablespoon chili powder
  • A can tomato wedges undrained 14 and 1/2 oz
  • 1/2 cup water
  • A package Frozen cut okra thawed 10 oz
  • 1 cup chopped onions
  • 3/4 cup chopped green peppers
  • 1 tbsp flour
  • 1.5 tbsp salt
  • A can tomato sauce 8 oz
  • 1 lb catfish fillets cut in 1-inch pieces

Steps to Make Catfish Gumbo

In a large saucepan melt butter and sauteed onion celery green pepper and garlic until tender

In a separate bowl Combine flour with spices

Stir slowly into sauteed vegetables

Put into pot tomato wedges, tomato sauce, and water

bring to a boil cover and simmer over medium high heat

Add catfish seasoned and okra to mixture

reduce heat, cover and simmer for 30 minutes to 45 minutes stirring occasionally until catfish flakes easily with a fork

Finally, serve over white rice, eat & Enjoy!
